Gibanica 2013
Serving a biennial selection of the best contemporary dance local productions since 2003, Gibanica will between 21st and 23rd February 2013 "occupy" the following venues in the capital of Slovenia: Old Power Station – Elektro Ljubljana, Cankarjev dom, Dance Theatre Ljubljana and Španski borci Culture Centre, Stretarjeva street.
The three-member-jury composed of Mateja Bučar, Pia Brezavšček and Klaus Ludwig selected from 41 submitted applications 8 performances to the main and 3 performances to the additional programme.
A concentrated review of dance creativity in Slovenia provided by Gibanica will again be valuable information both for invited foreign selectors as well as local audience.
The commission's argumentation:
"This year's commission has decided to support among the submitted applications those works which in an explicit way reflect a movement and a form and also address them whilst simultaneously indicating their own direction that we find significant for the development of contemporary dance in our country.
The performances that met said criteria at least in some segments were selected to this year's main programme that figures as a somewhat conceptual entity. Further to this, the commission also proposed works that through very different moments or constants demonstrate their level of quality (presenting a different view by the commission) to the additional programme. "
